5 Ways to Guarantee Affiliate Marketing Failure

affiliate marketing failureWhat’s up, successful affiliate marketers? It looks like you’ve been busy earning lots of money, and affiliate marketing has been giving you the life you’ve always wanted.

But don’t you get tired of succeeding? Don’t you sometimes wish life was a little harder, and you can’t even sell those “in-demand” products?

I got just the right thing for you: implement these five  easy steps in your affiliate marketing strategy and you’ll be failing in no time.

Five Ways to Guarantee Affiliate Marketing Failure

Before anything else, let’s go back to the basics. What is affiliate marketing? It’s pretty much earning commissions by making your readers buy a company’s products through the links you provide. Most of the time, you don’t even have to hard sell the product. You just make sure that your visitors enter the merchant’s website by clicking on the affiliated links posted on your website. With every product sold, you get paid. Easy, right?

Well, that’s why I came up with five easy ways to give any affiliate marketing expert the challenge they needed to spice up their lives:

1. Don’t use the product.

This is a good way to make your number of referrals plunge to the ground. By not using the products you are promoting, you can be sure that you have little to no idea about what you are selling. That way, when potential buyers ask you about it, you just say “No idea, don’t care. Why don’t you try it out for yourself and see?”

2. Promote the irrelevant product.

For a successful affiliate marketing venture, it is always best to promote products that have something to do with your website or your niche market. That way, the product will be relevant and appropriate to the kind of people visiting your website. Moreover, you won’t have that much problem getting used to the product, since it relates to what you already know.

But then again, affiliate marketing is not about doing what’s best for you, right? Try promoting a product that is either unrelated or in complete contradiction to what your website provides. For example, try promoting vegetables in a porn website (just a thought).

3.Insecurity is the key.

Promoting (and even selling) something requires self confidence – if you don’t trust yourself or your product, how would the buyers feel? Yes, make them think twice, even thrice, before even clicking on that referral link. Even if you know deep in your heart that this product is the best one out there, why should you let others know how good it is?

4. Spam your site.

Studies show that majority of the people on the Internet ignore ads. So why not put banner ads on every page in your site? Add more pop-ups to boot. Put a lot of ads, until search engines brand your site as spam. By then, your website’s ranking in search results pages would have decreased, lowering your chances of getting a lot of traffic.

5. Stop the commitment.

Stop replying on comments, don’t update your website’s content anymore, and stop maintaining it. Two of the good ways to maintain a good number of affiliate marketing referrals are: 1) taking the time to update your website; and 2) keeping constant contact with visitors that have the potential to be affiliate customers. But why bother putting that much effort? You said you wanted to fail, right?

There you go. Just follow these steps and you’re sure to fail in one way or another. But of course, if you’re aiming for success, then simply avoid these things at all costs. Or better yet, do the exact opposite.

You could’ve really stopped the post after number 1.

It’s one of the worst things with affiliate marketing. I believe that it’s morally and ethically wrong to endorse a product/service, especially for a commission, when you have tried it yourself.

I would NEVER do such a thing. All the products I promote are one’s I’ve tried, tested, or use personally. Doing business with integrity always leads to greater results in the long run!

Same here. I only promote what I personally use, and it annihilates my refund rate.
